About Split PDF

Split PDF shows your document as a grid of page thumbnails and colours each page by the output file it belongs to, so you can see the result before you create anything. Choose how to cut: by page ranges (each range becomes its own PDF), into equal parts of N pages, with a click on the line between any two pages, as one PDF per page, or by extracting chosen pages into a single new PDF.

Every page has buttons to rotate it, preview it or leave it out of all the files, and the changes are saved into the new PDFs. Page numbers can be added to each new file: restart at 1 in every file, or keep counting from one file to the next, in the corner, style and size you choose. The live preview shows a real output file page by page, and Preview final PDF opens every file at full size. When the result is several files they are packed into one ZIP, or you can download them separately. Everything runs in your browser, so the PDF never leaves your device.

It is handy for sending only the relevant pages of a long document, separating chapters, pulling one invoice out of a bundle, or splitting a batch of scans into individual documents.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate or remove pages while splitting?

Yes. Each page in the grid has buttons to rotate it left or right and to leave it out. A removed page is dropped from every file, and Restore removed puts them all back. Rotated pages are saved turned in the new files.

Can I add page numbers to the new files?

Yes. Tick Add page numbers to the new files and choose the position, format, size, colour and first number. Numbers can restart in every file or continue from one file to the next, and they also appear correctly on rotated pages.

Can I see the result before I download?

Yes. The live preview shows a real output file page by page, and you can switch between the files. Preview final PDF opens every file at full size.

How does click-to-split work?

Choose Click to split, then click the dashed line between two pages in the grid. A red line means a cut there, and the pages on either side go into different files. Click the line again to remove it.

What is the difference between Split by ranges and Extract pages?

Split by ranges creates one PDF for each range you list (1-3 and 4-6 give two files). Extract pages combines all listed pages into one new PDF.

What do the colours mean?

Each output file has its own colour. Every page thumbnail carries the colour and number of the file it will go into, and pages that are not included are greyed out.

Can I split a PDF into single pages?

Yes. Choose Every page and you will get one PDF per page in a ZIP file.

Can I reorder pages while extracting?

Yes. In Extract pages mode the pages are placed in the order you type them, for example 3, 1, 2.

Does splitting change the content?

No. Pages are copied unchanged, so quality and fonts stay exactly the same.

Is there a page or size limit?

There is no fixed limit. Very large files depend on your device's memory.
